Additional Coverage runs concurrently with your annual home warranty plan. So, when your home warranty plan expires, so does the Additional Coverage.
No, we do not place a limit on the number of covered repairs, although some coverage limitations and exclusions, such as dollar amount limits, may apply. Please review the specific list of coverage limitations and exclusions for each additional coverage item in the plan agreement.
You can add additional coverage when you purchase your home warranty plan, within the first 60 days of your plan being active via MyAccount or by calling 1-888-682-1043.
Although our ShieldSilver, ShieldGold, and ShieldPlatinum home warranty plans include coverage for parts of up to 23 systems and appliances you use every day, you may still want additional coverage to help cover specific items like pool and built-in spa equipment, electronics, guest units, and more. American Home Shield Additional Coverage takes the stress out of covered breakdowns and helps protect your budget. Here are the additional items for which we can provide coverage: Roof Leak Repair (included with the ShieldPlatinum plan but can be added to the ShieldSilver and ShieldGold plans), Electronics Protection, Pool & Built-in Spa Equipment, Guest Units (under 750 square feet), Septic Pumps, and Well Pumps.
Our standard home warranty contract term is 1 year and renews for additional 1-year terms unless canceled. You can place your first service request 30 days after you sign up for your plan. You will not be charged until your coverage begins at the 30-day mark.
Our best home warranty plan is the one that’s right for you and your home. The ShieldSilver plan covers the parts and components of your key systems like your heating and cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems. ShieldGold covers all of the above plus your laundry and kitchen appliances. And with ShieldPlatinum, you get coverage for just about everything: home systems and appliances, plus premium features like roof leak repair coverage, unlimited AC refrigerant, and one free HVAC Tune-up per agreement term. Simply place a service request online via MyAccount, pay your service fee, and we’ll assign a Pro to your request.
If you add any of our additional coverage options to your home warranty plan, it will increase your monthly plan cost by $5-$25 depending on the type of coverage you select. There won’t be any additional costs related to placing a service request though. You will still pay your standard service fee.
